Painting helps me to process life. What creating requires of me directly crosses over into every area of my life. It constantly invites me to master the art of self-awareness, deep listening, and a resilient trust in the process, and this is exactly how I aspire to live.

I find my inspiration in the natural world—the ever-changing play of light through clouds, the gentle dance of light on the water's surface, and the harmonious chaos within a garden of flowers moves me in ways that little else can touch.

I find nature to be a refuge and also a challenge that requires me to stay alert, engaged, and present. It is expressing this connection and the meaning that it holds for me that drives my desire to create paintings and to constantly learn and improve my abilities to turn emotion and thought into color, line, shape and texture.

Whether capturing nature's beauty or expressing my personal experiences here on this beautiful planet, I draw from the limitless experience of this expansive realm.

I paint from my home studio in Nashville, TN.

Art has this amazing power to transport us, soothe us, inspire and stimulate us, and creating works of art does all of this and more to me.

When I am creating, it’s like a personal relationship with that painting. I’m not in charge (this took me years to learn), but instead, a participant in something somewhat mysterious that I’m attempting to discover and recognize. When I can calm myself, slow down, and realize that it’s a process that’s going to be messy and unpredictable, then I find the flow and get to experience something that changes me on a fundamental level.

My deep fascination with mixed media collage stems from its ability to visually encapsulate the diverse fragments and layers of life, be they beautiful or heart rending.

The act of layering and blending these disparate elements creates a unity that resonates with a sublime sense of wholeness, a magnetic force that continually captivates and heals me.

WHEN A PAINTING GRABS YOU, IT HAS CAPTURED SOMETHING ABOUT YOU AND YOUR EXPERIENCE THAT IS IMPORTANT TO MARK.

“Marabeth’s artwork fills me with joy!” Melissa, Texas

Kind words from collectors.

It’s about relationship.

“Marabeth is a very talented artist and we love her work! What keeps us coming back, however, is the care that she takes to make sure we are a part of the process and that we get what we envisioned for a particular space. She’s hard working, timely, and very fair with her prices, and we’ve been so happy with the end result for each piece we’ve purchased! We will definitely come back again!” Laurie C., Alabama

“I watched the video of Marabeth creating the painting we commissioned for our anniversary and just laid there smiling and so thrilled with our decision. The fact that we got to go along for the ride of its creation is just crazy to me…crazy awesome. Our collaboration also helped us feel a part of the gift that we were giving each other. I love it.” Meribeth, Tennessee

“Marabeth’s art brings me immense joy. I cannot express enough how wonderful she is to work with and how her paintings enrich my life.” Jen, Australia

“Marabeth’s paintings are personal, affecting sensitivity to the beautiful, especially in her art. Art is personal; it has the ability to affect emotions. It can make a person feel joyful, sad or peaceful whenever they look at it. This is true to me personally every time I look at many of Marabeth’s artworks. I am the proud owner of four Marabeth Quin paintings, two I have commissioned and the other two I bought from her collection. I view paintings from many talented artists, but none has stirred my emotions in the way Marabeth’s artwork has. It’s personal to me. In my opinion, it is indicative of a truly gifted artist.” Emily Nuzzo, Bergen County, New Jersey

FAQs

What medium are your original paintings?

I work in mixed media, which means that I typically use more than just acrylic paint on my paintings. Additional media that are common in my present work are acrylic inks, collage, colored pencils, Art Graf tailor’s chalk, and soft pastel. I use acrylic medium that allows me to make translucent layers that create depth.

Do you do commissions?

Sometimes I am unable to take on commissions due to scheduling, but when time allows and what you are interested in falls in line with my current work, I love to create artwork for special occasions. If you think you would like to commission a painting, simply contact me and we can either email or chat over zoom about the commission process. I have broken it down so there are no surprises and you will never be stuck with a painting you don’t love. If you’d like to understand more about what commissioning a painting is, you can read more about the commission process here.

Are your paintings framed and ready to hang?

In some cases, I will include a floater frame with my paintings, or offer framing as an additional option at time of purchase. If no framing is offered and the painting is on canvas, it will arrive with hanging apparatus and ready to be put on the wall. When paintings are on paper, I may/may not offer them with matting, and they will arrive ready for framing on your end. Whatever the framing situation is for a specific painting, information will be available in the painting description on my website.

How will my painting be wrapped for shipping?

Depending on the substrate, I will find the most economical packaging and dependable carrier to bring your painting to you safely. You can find more information about this on my Purchasing + Shipping page.

I have placed my order—how soon will I receive my painting?

How soon you receive your painting may depend on where you are located, if framing is involved, and if there is a sale or promotion where I am shipping many paintings at once. But typically, with artwork that is ready to be shipped, I will pack and ship within 5 working days. When that is not the case, I will communicate with you about it.

I live in or near Nashville. Can I pick up my painting instead of having it shipped?

Absolutely. If this is what you’d like to do, simply contact me before purchase and I will make sure that you are not charged for shipping. If you purchase before I can have shipping removed, I will refund you the shipping cost.

Can you ship paintings internationally?

Yes I can. However, my website will not figure shipping outside of the U.S. and Canada, so if you live elsewhere, contact me before purchasing so I can arrange for the sale and find suitable shipping. To read more on this, go to Purchasing +Shipping.

What if I want to return my painting?

It is always my aim to make sure you have as much information before purchasing, but in the event you have an issue, simply contact me to talk about returning your painting. To learn all of the details about my refunds and returning a purchased painting, read my Refund Policy here. At this time, I am unable to offer returns for overseas purchases.

What if my painting arrives damaged?

All work is carefully packed and wrapped. When possible, I purchase shipping insurance for the unlikely event that artworks are damaged by the carrier. If you receive a work that has been damaged in transit, please contact me immediately and if possible keep a photograph of the packaging and the damage.
