About This Painting: One of the themes that emerged in this series was a wonderful exploration of transparency in the landscape. I have always loved depicting transparency, and using this process allowed me to do it in new ways that were more in line with my desire for a nice blend of representation and abstraction. This one used a lot of paint glazes as well as watercolors with hints of the textured collage creating a shadow-like presence below the surface. With the dark landforms contrasting the bright reflections on the water, I attempted to depict the visual drama that these peaceful scenes can deliver.
